I bought this stereo DVD player with the upmost of optimism.Being cheaper isn't always better when it comes to car electronics believe me.This stereo is proof.I had it installed professionally at best **** .The stereo does look nice and feel solid.Forget seeing the spectrum dancing display during the day.At night though everything looks beautiful.The LCD screen is nice too.The sound out of it sounded good through my Rockfords.Not so great through my sub.Sounded a little muffled at times.It only has one mono sub output line.I paid extra for a Y adapter for my sub.Now the bluetooth worked awesome with my motorola Trac-fone.The stereo would mute when I answered and the other person would here you through the provided microphone and you would hear them through your car speakers.It was clear on both ends.Now the downfall was some other things.One thing was I when you preset your radio stations and go to pick one of those preset stations afterwards the radio goes directly to that station......for about ten seconds then goes back to your original station.Another annoying thing is when your listening to a CD about fifteen minutes into the CD the stereo stops playing the Cd and on its own switches back to the radio.Then one minute later the CD will come back on but not where it left off.And the final straw was when it wouldn't read my Ipod at all.So I had it professionally uninstalled and sent it back.In this sorry case I guess you can say you get what you pay for!

Dual XDM6350 Receiver : Dual XDM6350 AM/FM/CD Receiver with USB iPod Control and AUX Input

I've been using an FM transmitter in my car for the last few months and have just become fed up with the quality of sound/ frustration of finding the right station. When reading the reviews for this product, I was very excited because it sounded perfect for me: A usb port and aux, all I really wanted.

Here is the problem.... The title of this product says "with usb ipod control" when in fact, the device does not work with my ipod at all unless I am using the aux port. After doing some digging, it seems that this is true for everyone. When I plug in my iPhone or iPod touch, the device continues to say "reading" but never goes out of that phase. I was pretty disappointed to hear that but figured I could live with using the aux input while I just used the usb plug to keep my devices charged. Well, here is the other big problem: the stereo doesn't even charge my i-devices. When I plug it in, my device makes that "plugged in" sound 3 or 4 times rapidly but it stops at that and the battery charge icon does not show up. I double checked my wiring to make sure everything was okay and it appeared so. It may be possible that this unit is capable of working with something like the ipod classic because it doesn't store anything other than music files but I don't own one so I'm not for certain.

It's just really frustrating because the description clearly says that the device is compatible with ipods and that you could control them. The thought of being able to flip through my ipod with a remote sounds fantastic but it doesn't work that way.

If anyone has a solution to this problem, I would love to hear it. Moreover, Amazon and or Dual needs to changed the description of this item or be more specific with which devices it is compatible with.

I gave the player 2 stars because it was easy to set up and it sounds pretty good. If anyone doesn't care about the issues I encountered than I am sure this is a great player. I'm thinking of returning it unless I can find a solution somewhere.

Boss 865 DBI : Boss 865DBI In-Dash DD MP3-CD-AM-FM Receiver

I purchased this unit along with Scosche TA2088B Dash kit and Scosche TA02B Wiring Harness for my 2005 Toyota Sienna LE.
First, some good points:
1. I can play MP3 from CD and USB drive. I feel that the sound is better/louder than the Toyota Factory unit (using factory speakers).
2. USB drive (my 2GB by Micro Center): starts playing after about 4 seconds. (I did not try SD card)
3. Incoming call via Bluetooth will pause the radio/music and the voice is coming out through Left Front speaker - clear.
4. The user guide is clear enough. After reading it, I was able to set time, pair my phone (Samsung Reclaim), set Contrast, etc.
5. Unit packs a lot of features

Here are some areas that I think this unit needs to improve:
1. The mounting holes do not line up with ones on Scosche TA2088B Dash kit. Not sure it's Boss's fault or Scosche's fault. Whose ever fault this is, it is good for us if things line up correctly (I'll post pictures showing this issue).
2. The tuner is definitely worse than my Sienna factory installed unit. Both local AM and FM stations are filled with noticeable static.
3. The display, if left at default contrast level (5/10), is not very easy to read regardless day or night or shade. After I increase the contrast to 10/10, it is easier to read, but still not close to my Sienna factory installed unit (I'll post pictures showing this issue).
4. Unit had errors reading my USB drive the first time. It took over 10 seconds before failing. However, after unplugged and replugged the USB drive, it took about 3-4 seconds to start playing the 1st song.
5. Buttons/knobs are too small. They can be bigger. The VOLUME/AUDIO knob is hard to grip and turn. The TUNE/MUTE button is a little easier to turn, but bigger is better. The MODE (Source), POWER, BAND/SEARCH, DISPLAY/MENU buttons should be bigger.
6. When using bluetooth, the other end could hardly hear me. I had to speak very close to the head unit, where I think the mic is (even though I could not figure out where the mic is actually located - Couldn't even see that in the manual).
7. The door covering USB and AUX-in has trouble staying closed and I think it will fall off in a short time.

Other thoughts:
1. Be careful when play MP3 from USB/SD card because this unit has the ability to erase files (using BAND/SEARCH button). I would lock my SD card before putting it in this unit.
2. I don't have an iPOD and I didn't try this feature. However, the big hole does not look very nice after removing the face plate.
3. Some functions may require me to push and hold a button for 3 seconds, then select one of the available options. This may mean too much time-consuming while driving. (Push and hold Volume button in order to get to the options to adjust BASS/TREBLE etc.)
